Some comments about my travel / Quelques commentaires sur mon voyage

Something difficult for us, European, when we travel USA is to know how much something exactly costs. In Europe the prices on the labels, at the restaurant, the hotel and so on, include the taxes. But in USA we had to add the taxes on every price we saw -more the service (tip or gratuity) at the restaurant-. In France the servie, at the restaurant, is included in the price but of course if we are happy with the service and the food we leave a tip for the waiter or the waitress.

I'll have to find too some French road signs and post them here. You'll see that in France (and Europe) it's very different from USA. Most of the road signs there are not written but there is a "drawing" everyone can perfectly understand. More, in France the signs are yellow if they are temporary. We thought it was the same in USA but we rapidly discovered it wasn't! Anyway I was very happy to let hubby drive. One of the best exemple is "NO PASS". I thought "But why can't we go there?". Then I noticed this sign was just before a double line and understood the meaning. I think all the new words we learnt were about the road!

Yes and in Quebec we have the QST on top of the regular federal sales tax. It make us good at math.
Also having to translate from metric to imperial which the US still uses.

That's what I loved when I visited Paris. EVERYTHING was included. We always knew the price.

It's sure not easy traveling when you're not familiar. It's hard enough reading and understanding some of the street signs around here. I can't imagine it when English is not your first language.

I wonder of the people in charge think of ways to confuse us! LOL!!!

Yes, everything here is confusing, even for those of us who have been here a long time. European travel is so much easier.
Glad you survived and had a good time!

Wow! I've never been to the USA, so this is quite interesting. I didn't know anything about all that. I'll have to keep this in mind for IF I ever go there. Thanks!
